Description

Hypertension is an extremely common disorder and affects over 60% of adults over the age of 65 years. There has been much controversy regarding the target values in management, as well as marked variations in physicians approaches to management based on age and setting of the patient. Current evidence base guidelines, backed by the results from numerous studies, seek to offer more precise information on the matter. This webinar will disseminate the new information and help the audience gain an understanding of the clinical practice guidelines.

Learning Objectives:

  • Provide an understanding of the new definition and classification of hypertension based on information from the 2017 Clinical Practice Guidelines released from the ACC/AHA and other societies
  • Examine data from the SPRINT study to illustrate the changes in approach to hypertension
  • Review the current approaches to management, including life style and medications
  • Offer clarification and answers to any questions from the audience
