Designed for new medical directors or those aspiring to be, this session will provide participants with an interactive, supported learning session on Nursing Home 101. This includes, the Survey, Minimum Data Set (MDS), care plan, policy and procedures and complex state and federal regulations. The emphasis is on practical skill building with mentoring from seasoned medical directors from a variety of care settings. The role of the medical director in quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI), infection control, risk management, and in facility leadership will be addressed. The session will require hands on activities, allowing application of new skills and will hopefully inspire participants to seek out medical director posts and further certification.
