Description

This session will offer an intensive review of the interdisciplinary knowledge base for wound care required by health professionals in the PALTC environment, as well as an intro to “what's hot” in the wound care world. We have gathered top leaders from across the country to discuss administrative considerations, pressure injury prevention, treatment modalities, nutrition, team building, wound care outsourcing, risk management, and infections. We will employ a lecture format, audience participation, and case presentations.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Describe administrative challenges of wound care, including team building, outsourcing, and risk-management.
  • Discuss the array of treatment modalities for chronic wounds, including cost considerations.
  • Implement proper nutritional management for residents with chronic wounds.
  • Explain the importance of team building for assembling a synergistic, interdisciplinary wound care team to facilitate optimum patient and resident outcomes.
