Description

Through brief presentations and case-based discussions, this session, will provide updates on managing common infections (pneumonia, urinary tract infections [UTIs], skin and soft tissue infections [SSTI], and Clostridium difficile infection [CDI] ) in PALTC facilities. In addition, strategies for prevention and early recognition of these infections will be discussed. The goal of this session is to prepare clinical practitioners for evidence-based management of common infections in PALTC facilities.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe various clinical presentations of pneumonia, UTI, SSTI, and CDI in PALTC settings.
  • Discuss the diagnostic challenges for pneumonia, UTI, SSTI, and CDI and the limitations of the available tests.
  • Demonstrate practical steps that can be taken for prevention and early recognition of the common infections in PALTC facilities.
  • Review the treatment updates for pneumonia, UTI, SSTI, and CDI.
