Description

This popular session by four experienced speakers from Case Western Reserve University or Saint Louis University will present an intensive session on updates in caring for frail elders in the PALTC setting. Each speaker will take 45 minutes to cover one or two current and challenging topics, including the clinical management of sleep apnea, medical marijuana, opioid management in chronic kidney disease, multimorbidity, polypharmacy, Parkinson's disease, post-hip fracture management, and acute and chronic eye conditions.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Describe the drug-disease and drug-drug interactions of opioids and cannabis, including in chronic kidney disease.
  • List the post-operative recommendations after hip fracture.
  • Describe alternatives to CPAP for sleep apnea management.
  • Discuss deprescribing approaches for multimorbidity and chronic disease management.
