This session will review the rationale underpinning the development of the teaching nursing home. In comparing and contrasting the evolution of teaching nursing homes in four distinct jurisdictions, issues around academic affiliations, funding, interdisciplinary collaboration and quality measures will be addressed.
Describe how research can be promoted based on the unique needs of a given health care system.
Discuss the varied approaches to student education in teaching nursing homes and related assessment modalities.
Describe and contrast the different funding mechanisms for the teaching nursing home.
