Description

This popular session by four experienced speakers from Cleveland and St Louis University present an intensive session on updates in caring for frail elders in the continuum of care.

Topics include:

  1. Using a multifaceted approach to dementia in very old adults, where Alzheimer's does not necessarily explain the cognitive dysfunction
  2. Prognostication in Medical Decision-Making
  3. Hypertension targets post-SPRINT
  4. Dyspnea and COPD in LTC
  5. Update in wound care
  6. Neuropathic pain management in the era of new opioid prescription guidelines.

Learning Objectives:
  • Analyze a multi-faceted approach to dementia in the LTC setting.
  • Reexamine targets for hypertension based on Sprint and prognostication.
  • Review the extent of the workup to confirm COPD as a contributor to dyspnea, and to suggest treatments to address dyspnea due to COPD including at the end-of-life.
  • Choose non-opioid medications for neuropathic pain management.
