Description

This session will present updates from federally funded antimicrobial stewardship projects currently underway in LTC settings. The session will provide participants with recommendations pertinent to the performance of sound antimicrobial stewardship through use of both short didactic presentations and interactive panel discussions. Conceptualize a process for incorporating an antibiotic timeout as part of their antimicrobial stewardship program.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss a novel approach being explored to reduce unnecessary antibiotic use through the development of a simplified algorithm for the diagnosis and treatment of uncomplicated bladder infections
  • Explain the differences in content of an antimicrobial stewardship program targeted to nurses as opposed to those targeted to medical providers.
