Description

Leadership and oversight of a nursing facility presents challenges to both the administrator and the medical director. The quality of the relationship between the administrator and the medical director can directly affect the function of the interdisciplinary team (IDT) and quality of care.

In this panel discussion moderated by an administrator and a Certified Medical Director (CMD), the audience will learn from experienced IDT members’ experiences in nursing, social services, and physical therapy as they adapt to both productive and dysfunctional administrator-medical director relationships.

As a CMD, Dr. Edmondson will co-moderate a panel discussion with Mr. Allen, a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, on the quality of the relationship between the administrator and the medical director, and its direct impact on the function of the IDT and quality of care. During the panel discussion, case presentations will frame the discussion by experienced IDT members’ experiences in nursing, social services and physical therapy as they adapt to both productive and dysfunctional administrator-medical director relationships.

Learning Objectives:

  • List the types of collaborative working relationships among leaders.
  • Discuss the impact of dysfunctional and productive relationships between the administrator and medical director on nursing, social services, and physical therapy.
