Session Description:
This is an intermediate to advanced training program aimed at Long Term Care Physicians working in private practice settings. It is designed to assist these physicians in better managing all aspects of their practice excepting the direct treatment of patients. This session focuses on making management decisions about the three most significant CMS programs which modify payments: PQRI, the ePrescribing Incentive, and Medicare/Medicaid EHR incentives under the HiTech Act. Each presenter is currently in involved in critical components of managing a long term care private practice. These include; practice management, information management, clinical automation, billing & collections, risk management & compliance. Panelists include practice managers, and physicians from - solo practice, LTC exclusive practice, and a full service geriatric practice.

Learning Objectives(s):

  • Describe the three major CMS incentive programs that relate to LTC physicians.
  • Assess their personal options for participating in the 3 major CMS cash incentive programs (PQRI, eRx, EHR).
  • Identify PQRI measures best suited to a LTC practice.
  • Recognize specific risks that arise from PQRI participation (public result reporting).
  • Explain work flow challenges in coordinating Rx Management with Nursing Facilities & LTC Pharmacies.
