Session Description: This session provides an opportunity for the audience to speak about their involvement in the culture change movement in both skilled nursing and assisted living. A facilitator will provide the history of the culture change movement and give a brief description of the difference between a traditional institutional long term care setting and one that embraces the social model that creates a sense of community. The impact of the new MDS 3.0 will be discussed as it applies to the survey process.
Apply ideas on implementation of culture changing initiatives in their communities both skilled and assisted living.
Explain how culture change has become part of the MDS and has been integrated into the survey process.
Discuss how to enhance the role of Medical director in culture changing initiatives.
Identify ways to evaluate the effectiveness of culture change initiatives.
