Session Description:
This session uses an interactive case based format to assess and review the current literature on the risks and benefits of pharmacotherapy when used to manage hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes mellitus, congestive heart failure and osteoporosis in the nursing home resident.

Learning Objectives:
  • Review the appropriate steps of medication management in the nursinghome resident
  • Discuss current literature regarding common medical illnesses in thenursing home resident
  • Develop an appropriate plan of care for each case based on theresidents disease, current quality of life and estimated life expectancy
