Description

This session describes research regarding medical interventions and offers an alternative psychosocial program for patients with advanced dementia. Namaste Care is a program for nursing home patients with advanced dementia that offers a quality of life for the patient and peace of mind for their families and has resulted in a high level of satisfaction from facility staff. Namaste Care will be described and several case studies will be presented. Space, staffing requirements and strategies for implementation will be explained. The role of medical director in the implementation process will be described as well as the outcomes of the program.
